It's Content, It's Community, It's Collaboration

So I got my first ever Royalty Statement today for a DotNetNuke For Dummies book I wrote in April this year. Woo-hoo!! Despite being firmly entrenched it the IT world, there was a time (long long ago) when becoming a beret wearing beatnik writer was an aspiration that led me to undertake a writing BA. Of course by the time I finished that degree I needed to get a real job to pay back my student loan, but thanks to computers - I am finally published.

Technical books don't leave much room for creative prose but I couldn't resist getting in a couple of Aussie jokes here and there. My favorite one was penned in cahoots with my fellow author and husband Philip Beadle and it is a tribute to Dennis Denuto from The Castle and so Page 10 of the book reads: "DotNetNuke - It's Content, It's Community, It's Collaboration - It's the vibe of the thing". Gotta love it! :)

I am a founding member of the DotNetNuke Core Team and a member of the DNN Help Project team. I began my IT career in 1999 when I co-founded a web development company with my husband and Philip Beadle. After discovering the fledgling IBuySpy Portal application (which later evolved to become DotNetNuke) we changed the direction of our company to work exclusively in the DNN space. The success of this stategy lead to the company being sold in 2005. I am the author of the first "DotNetNuke For Dummies" book as well as DNN Online Help. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Literature and a Post Graduate diploma in Orientation and Mobility - which is teaching orientation skills and providing white or long cane training to vision impaired adults and children. I currently work part time as the Readify Communications Manager as well as doing some DNN consultancy work.
