I've done the pre-summit post, now time for the post-summit post.

No, the Sydney instance of the Ready Summit didn't go for four days, it has just taken me three days to get around to posting up this quick debrief. Overall I think the day went really well. Andrew Coates gave a great developer keynote on how all of the technologies that are converging at the moment (Vista, Office 2007, .NET 3.0) essentially provide a great platform to build applications on.

I did my Building Differentiated User Experiences demo which seemed to go well which showed off how to do round tripping from Expression Interactive Designer (EID) and Visual Studio. I also demonstrated how to hack out your own sidebar gadgets by using other gadgets as templates.

Unfortunately my other two presentations didn't go too well due to some projector issues. Both of them started late as I tried to figure out why my laptop couldn't push and image out to the projector. I didn't manage to get it sorted out so I ended up using Andrew's laptop to do the presentation. It worked well but I couldn't do one of my demos due to the configuration required to get it going. The strange thing is that we dropped into the convention centre the day before and did a "tech-check" to prove that the laptops would work with the projector - and at the time mine did. I am flying into Brisbane on Tuesday morning to do the same thing, hopefully it works this time.

One of the sessions that I really enjoyed was Andrew's session on the Office 2007 file formats and how they work. I actually didn't think that I'd really get much from this session but I was wrong, the new Office 2007 file formats are cool and the System.IO.Packaging namespace is getting a visit from me right now!

I also caught bits of a presentation by Angus Logan although I am hoping to catch more of that on Wednesday provided I don't have any laptop problems.
