The second issue of Behind the Scenes at TechEd comes to us from Dave Lemphers. Dave has many interests, including (but limited to) shoes, hats, movie critiquing, and Big Brother.

  1. Who are you, and what do you do when you aren't doing things for TechEd?
I’m David Lemphers, and I’m a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft Australia, and when I’m not doing things for TechEd, I like to listen to music, read poetry and take long windy walks near my beach house in Malibu.
  2. What's the secret location of this year's party?
    The grotto at Franky’s house!
  3. What track(s) are you running? What sort of things do they cover?
Connected Systems is my track, and it covers things to do with systems and how they get connected.
  4. What else are you involved with this year?
TechEd is the priority, but one must always allocate time for the odd fake tan session and hair plug refit to stay human!
  5. No really, you can tell me. Where's the party going to be?
OK, you’ve broken me, it’s going to be in the car park at Microsoft, North Ryde, make sure your there at 8pm Geoff, and don’t leave until we all get there!
  6. Why should I go to your track(s) and not a different one?
Because I’m not only incredibly suave and debonair, but I have those little WF building blocks from TechEd Boston to give away!
  7. If I couldn't make it to TechEd this year, is there any way I'd be able to get my hands on some of the information presented on your track?
No! I mean, jeez, what do you think we are, a charity!?
  8. Why should I even go to TechEd at all?
The party man! The party, and the networking, and then, the PARTY!!
  9. How many TechEds have you been to before? Which one was the best?
I’ve only been to one, last year, and that was the best one I’ve been to ever!
  10. Why is this years going to be the best one yet?
    The party!
  11. There's a lot of new stuff coming out in the next 12 months - Vista, Office, .Net 3.0, Expressions, and more. Which one are you looking forward to the most?
.NET 3.0…it’s like 2.0, but has about 1.0 more goodness!
  12. And finally, let's say I couldn't make it to TechEd this year, but I could make it to the party. Where would I need to go? ;)
The grotto, definitely the grotto! Or the car park ;)

Thanks Dave - as ever, you're fast, funny, and at least partially informative :)
