Meeting Jay Ferron and preparing for Innovations
This week we've had the Vista Touchdown training in Melbourne where we've taken 30 local ISV's and introduced them to Vista. Yesterday we looked at Vista itself and explored the new UI, Security model and feature-set of Vista. I love going through all of the features and this gave me an opportunity to refine my demo's for the Innovation events that I'll be doing with Chuck and John Hodgson later this week and next. The demo's that I've chosen for my Vista Core Features session are:
- UAP
- Search and Organize
- Aero
- Windows Sideshow
- Parental Controls
- Windows Sidebar and Gadgets
- Live Icons
- Search/Favourite Folders
- Flip 3D
- RSS Platform
- Mobility Center
The key presenter for the Vista Touchdown training has been Jay Ferron from Asentus in the US. Jay is from New York and this is well reflected in his highly engaging, energetic presentation style
. Jay really works with the audience and deals with them at the level of a peer. It's been great working with him. Here is a picture of Jay explaining timelines in XAML to the group:

Jay is a very knowledgeable guy and it was great to be able to talk to him about Vista and also to learn about some of his background. I'll leave some of the details of these experiences for a Vista Vibe interview but these include stories from 9/11 through to the work that he is doing with Digital Rights Management (DRM).
