How long have you been running Vista for on your desktop (honestly)?
Well I’ve fired up various builds of Vista over the last 6 months, but as of yesterday I now am running with Vista/Office 12 as my production environment. Why didn’t I do sooner, well I think I’m past the days of mixing betas with betas with more betas. So now at least a stable dev environment so happy to branch out now there is a stable beta and so far it’s pretty cool, lol, but early days…
Tell me about a Vista feature have you discovered recently.
How to install additional windows features – I went hunting and hunting for Add New Programs, doh and finally I found the “Programs” icon, I know I’m not the only one to have stumbled on this one so hopefully it’ll save someone some time as it’s been newly renamed!!
What is your role at Microsoft and are you involved in any upcoming readiness campaigns around Vista?
I’m a dev evangelist, so my role is to understand what is happening, digest it and then hopefully help others understand what is new, where it’s all going, what the value is and good places to get started. But day to day stuff on Vista (and XP) will be around WinFX and Web dev
What things in Vista or Office 12 have you seen that really stand out as likely to have a big impact on our productivity or the way we do things today?
Hmmm, well only one day in to it, so a bit early, but I like the over look and feel, nice attention to detailJ. Oh and I found where all the menus are hidden in Office PowerPoint and Word etc. Click on the Office logo at the top left hand corner and all will be revealed, doh, may be that is not as obvious as it could be – yeah, I’m sure I’m not the only one to stumble on that too!! I also like the RSS integration, nice!!
