Vista Visions #9: Use Checkboxes for Multi-Select Files and Folders
This Vista Vision was submitted by Chris O'Connor of SDM.
You can select multiple files in XP or Vista by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on the files that you need. It works, but it's a little cumbersome - especially if you forget to hold the CTRL key down and you lose all of your previous selections. In Vista you also have the option of using checkboxes to do the selections.
To enable the checkbox feature open the Folder Options dialog (by pressing the ALT key from within Windows Explorer and then choosing "Tools", "Folder Options") and then scroll down and check the "Use check boxes to select items" option:

Now when you open up Windows Explorer again you will be able to use Checkboxes to select multiple files.

Thanks Chris!
