Melbourne Rocked!
Well I have to tell you, Melbourne Rocked! We did both events in one day and had a great turnout for both of them. This was Steve Riley's last stop with the tour and Jesper takes over in Sydney.
There was lots of interest in Infocard at the Interchange event, and I'm happy to say lots of interest in Threat Modeling as well! It's great to see developers anxious to take on Threat Modeling to improve their code. When I get back to the hotel in Sydney tonight, I'll upload some more pics to the Flickr site. I didn't have a chance to take a lot, but there are a few.
Since Steve has spent the last week with us, and Jesper is taking over, I thought I'd post Steve's answers to my mini-interview questions today.
Aside from the boiler plate text that is posted on the eForum web site about your presentation, what would you say are the cool points in your presentation?
[Steve Riley] Raising awareness about an issue that's become critical for many customers. Showing how to hack networks protected with the wrong technology that too many third-party vendors are forcing on people.
From your talk, what are the top 3 things you want the attendees to take home with them?
[Steve Riley] Education and awareness, a plan to create a process and implement the technology, and just having a good time.
Why is your talk important, what is the industry need behind it?
[Steve Riley] It provides an important security process that supports the movement away from well-defined network perimeters toward stronger individual host protection.
Who do you think will get the most from your talk?
[Steve Riley] Everyone in the room.
What is your ‘pet’ security topic?
[Steve Riley] Lambasting and villifying stupid "security theater."
What do you think IT Pro and Developers need to be looking to do better in the future?
[Steve Riley] Figuring out how to express security return on investment to their managers so that they can get budget to improve security technologies.
